Frequently Asked Questions

Can I connect with a therapist for a consultation before booking them in for a session?

Absolutely! We offer free 15 minute phone consults for you to connect with our therapists.

Is there a possibility of the fees being covered by OHIP?

Unfortunately not. Please speak to your insurance provider (if you have one) about coverage for Registered Psychotherapists. Most insurance providers cover counselling costs under extended coverage. Please feel free to connect with us to discuss this further.

What forms of payment does Aks accept?

We accept credit card and debit Visa payments. If you would like to pay us using cheque, wire transfer or another form of payment, please connect with us to discuss.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapy is confidential. Your therapist is legally bound to keep your conversations private, except in certain circumstances such as if you pose a danger to yourself or others. Your therapist will provide you with more information about confidentiality during your first session.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you're experiencing emotional distress, relationship problems, or other challenges that are affecting your daily life, therapy may be a helpful resource. We offer a free initial consultation to help you determine whether therapy is the right fit for you.

What should I expect in a therapy session?

Therapy sessions typically last 50 minutes, whereas the extended sessions last 80 minutes, and involve a conversation between you and your therapist. The therapist may ask questions, provide feedback, and offer guidance as you explore your thoughts and feelings. The focus of therapy will depend on your individual needs and goals.
